For most of the last four decades, I have been a teacher of teachers, first at San Jose State University in California and, since 2000, at the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley, CO. My former students are now mostly mid- or late-career teachers and administrators throughout the state, including Poudre, Thompson, and other districts around Colorado, as well, indeed, as throughout our country and the rest of the world. I have often had the great pleasure of reconnecting with one or another of them as I have substitute taught in my local schools over the last six years. It is refreshing, renewing, and profoundly rewarding to make such contacts, as well as to observe my students working with their students.
